Coffee At 91 Ipoh 1Coffee At 91 Ipoh 15
Coffee @ 91 has a Korean flair to it with its dreamy colors and k pop music in the background.  Absolutely be there if you are the greedy type that want to eat every dessert you see because you can do just that at Coffee @ 91 as the desserts come miniature sized with the price about half of other cafes too.  Do take note though if you are hungry and need a good meal, the cafe only serves two very light meals of mushroom soup and Korean Kimchi Shin Ramen.

3.  Espresso Lab @ Ipoh Garden
Espresso Lab Ipoh 6Espresso Lab Ipoh 1
Liquored cakes are Espresso Lab‘s specialty.  The evocative combination of whisky, caramel and chocolate cake is to die for I think I could lick the plate clean if nobody is watching.  I tried the kahlua tiramisu on another occasion and it was just as enchanting with crunchy caramalized almonds adorned atop.  The food though is not as spectacular.

happy 8 retreat cafe ipoh 18happy 8 retreat cafe ipoh 16
Designed with retreat and nature in mind, the earth toned cafe has many wood and forest elements.  If cafes exist in magical kingdoms, they would look like the Happy 8 Retreat Cafe.  The main courses on the menu consist of a good mix of local and western food at typical cafe pricing though the desserts are pricey, sometimes even costing more than the main course.

People not in the know might pass Missing Marbles thinking it’s an optical shop because the original facade and yellow signboard still remains.  With child’s play in theme, going to Missing Marbles could be taking a trip down memory lane, reigniting your memories of childhood toys like marbles, bicycles and origami fortune tellers, while enjoying noodle or rice meals at the same time.

Myth Eatery & Bar Ipoh 15Myth Eatery & Bar Ipoh 3
A not so mythical Myth Cafe that needs to be experienced with M Boutique Hotel, or at least the lobby of M Boutique Hotel.  The hotel’s lobby depicts a safari expedition base camp, and the Myth Cafe could very well belong to the wealthy Safarian sponsoring the expedition, welcoming you into his rustic house with white-washed table mats already laid out, ready for a feast. The pricing is much more premium than the average cafes.

Patisserie Boutique Ipoh 8Patisserie Boutique Ipoh 10
A Parisian cafe that might just make you think you have stepped into a cafe in Paris for a moment with its simplistic and elegant charm.  The chicken lasagna was a gorgeous dish with brilliant colors of tomato red, cream-white and salmon pink.

9.  Roquette Cafe @ Ipoh Old Town
Roquette Cafe @ Ipoh 17Roquette Cafe @ Ipoh 6
Assemblyman YB Nga Kor Ming and local coffee maker Check Hup team up to bring you a somewhat peculiar yet harmonious combination of a DAP service cafe – where constituents can discuss matters with YB Nga every Tuesday and at the same time enjoy a cup of coffee. The paper drip coffee was captivating with a sweet after taste while the food was not too impressive.

STG Ipoh 15STG Ipoh 13
With the opening of STG Tea House Cafe, we get to enjoy organic and pesticide-free tea which hails from the highlands of Sabah in a pristine white mansion.  I enjoyed the lamb but thought the chicken was a tad dry and did not have the “smoky” flavor as it is supposed to be “Tea Smoke Chicken Whole Leg”.  The price is relatively high for the small portion served but the enchanting atmosphere did make up for the imperfections.

The Red Bean Bag @ PubliKA Solaris Dutamas

Brunch – A combination of 2 meals; Breakfast and Lunch.
Weekends are the only days I could settle my sleep debt and I usually wake up just in time for Brunch, because it’s too late for breakfast and yet too early for lunch. Teehee.. One of my favourite place for Brunch is Publika because
  1. near where I’m staying
  2. more than a handful of cafes under one roof
  3. you can find good coffee in most of these cafes
The Red Beanbag
The Red Beanbag @ Publika
One of the many cafes I usually patronize (whenever I feel really hungry and rich) is The Red Beanbag. Located right opposite The Social KL, at the Square.
redbeanbag
And usually there will be a long long wait for table as the place is ALWAYS packed with hungrybrunchers. However, surprisingly that one weekend, we didn’t have to wait for a table at all even though we arrived during their most peak hours. #whathappened
redbeanbag1
I love having coffee at The Red Beanbag as the texture, aroma and flavour is well maintained and pretty consistent at every visit. And their coffee art is always so neat and pretty – plus points.
redbeanbag2
Flat White @ RM
My all time favourite cuppa, Flat White. Flat white is similar to Latte, the only difference is the ratio of milk and espresso. I prefer flat white for stronger coffee :3 It has lesser milk and foam from latte. So, it is debatable by few baristas that flat white do not necessarily comes with coffee art due to the “lesser milk/foam” =/ #excuses *coughcough*
redbeanbag3
Whatever the reasons and/or excuses is, I love and PREFER a pretty sight of velvety cuppa. ANYWAY, you can tell whether it is a perfectly poured cuppa – coffee art usually stays in shape till the end. #justsaying
redbeanbag4
First impression is very important. I mean, let’s be realistic. When a cuppa is served to you looking shabby and what not, it is already registered in your brain that this cup of coffee is bad and vice versa. #typicalhumans #alwaysjajing
Hello and Good Morning!
Enough babbling about coffee…let’s check out the food here.
redbeanbag7
This is BRUUUUUUNCHHHHHH
redbeanbag9
The Atlantic @ RM22
This is RBB recommended. House smoked salmon with salmon pearls, wilted Australian baby spinach, sauteed mushrooms, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce served on fluffy French toasts.
redbeanbag15
This is simply delicious only complain is that the poached eggs were slightly over cooked, so not runny egg yolks to make a mess.
redbeanbag13
Croque Madame @ RM17
A must have here in RBB – Croque Madame (with egg) or Croque Monsieur (without egg). The madame has egg on top of the sandwich because it sort of signifies a lady hat.
redbeanbag12
CAN YOU SEE THE FLUFFY-NESS OF THE BREAD
Seriously a must have here. Fluffy grilled turkey ham and cheese sandwich, fully coated with generous amounts of mozzarella cheese and topped with a fried egg, served with a handful of greens.
redbeanbag14
You shall lick your screen now
Slightly runny egg yolk. It’s a pity the egg yolk is not runny enough. Otherwise, expect a mess but delicious and rich mess.
Here’s the menu for your reference. The two yummies we had were from “The Dark Side”. Heavy and rich.
